Here's some weather trivia:

1) 1848
As a result of a wind-driven ice jam near Buffalo, Niagara Falls ran dry.
The sudden silence startled hundreds from their sleep and filled churches
with those who feared the end of the world. Others walked out onto the
river bed to hunt for artifacts. By 1 April, the river and the falls had
returned to normal.
