Q: Is it true that Isaac Newton was a virgin?
A: Of course he was a virgin. Once upon a time so was Madonna. What's
tragic is that he may have died a virgin. Not that this is so
unusual. You met many electrical engineers? But mathematicians are
probably worse. How the math gene perpetuates itself is one of the
    mysteries of our age.

[This must be from one of the columns because it isn't in the book "The
Straight Dope." There used to be an archive of the newspaper columns, but it
doesn't seem to be there anymore... Has anyone seen the The Straight Dope
archives lately? -psl@acm.org]
