Peter Ohler of LA CA was frustrated with the instruments that GM provided
for his EV1 electric car. They gave him a bar readout for the battery
capacity, but it didn't seem quite accurate. What to do? Well, you can
hook your Palm Pilot up to the car's serial data port, record the data
stream and reverse-engineer it to figure out what it's doing. He describes
it at:

He can now display most of his dashboard on the Pilot. Now if you could
connect that serial port with the navigation software that now runs on
Pilots and have it control the power steering to actually drive the car,
maybe your Pilot could really live up to its name...
